COURSE DESCRIPTION

This module reviews body mechanics, safety measures when transferring patients and differentiate between a transfer and a lift. Learners will be able to practice basic positioning of patient from bed to chair, moving, turning and lifting patients. Prerequisites: Practicing PSW AUDIENCE: PSW

Basics of Assisting with Eliminations: PSW005

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Assisting with eliminations helps the learner to identify factors affecting bowel and urinary eliminations, common bowel complications, specimen collections and care of ostomy pouch. This course helps to identify characteristics of normal urine, provide guidelines for maintaining urinary elimination and to describe the care required for urinary incontinence. The learner will learn how to describe normal stool and patterns of frequency, methods to provide comfort and safety during eliminations and administering enemas and PSW responsibilities regarding catheter care. Prerequisites: Practicing PSW AUDIENCE: PSW

Essentials of Arterial Blood Gas: RP009

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This module reviews oxygenation assessments, ventilation and acid-base status. The learner will become familiar with the step-wise method and review the interpretation of arterial blood gases. Learners will revise normal and abnormal ABG’s values. Prerequisites: RN, RPN or LPN AUDIENCE: RPN/LPN & RN

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This module focuses on major body systems. Leaners will review the anatomical structure and physiological function of the endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, neurologic, gastrointestinal systems. Prerequisites: practicing RPN/ LPN or RN AUDIENCE: RPN/LPN, RN

Essentials of Hand Hygiene & PPE: GEN001

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Essentials of Hand Hygiene and Protective P Equipment (PPE) is an essential skill that requires specific knowledge of infection cycle, chain of infection, modes of transmission, microbe and pathogens. Learners will re familiarize themselves with hand washing guidelines, cleaning disinfection and sterilization methods.
